They do not indicate three levels of security.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<section id=\"section-1\" class=\"wp-block-group msg-chapter is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A discreet mechanism within the door<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lock case is recessed into the door. The faceplate is visible on the door edge when it is open, while the handles and keyway remain accessible on the door faces.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This installation maintains a discreet finish. It can apply to an interior door with a cane-shaped hinge, as well as an entrance door with a more elaborate closure mechanism.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section id=\"section-2\" class=\"wp-block-group msg-chapter is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Single or multi-point<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mortice locks are available with a single locking point or several points linked by rods. Depending on the model, they can be key-operated, lift-to-lock or automatic.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fact that the lock case is concealed does not guarantee particular resistance to forced entry. The design, any certification, and the quality of installation must be assessed.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section id=\"section-3\" class=\"wp-block-group msg-chapter is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What needs to be measured<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To find a replacement, first check the backset, centres, lock case and faceplate dimensions. The handle spindle, fixing holes and latch bolt handing must also match.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A mortice lock that appears similar may not fit the existing mortice. On a multi-point lock, it is also necessary to check the positions of the points and their compatibility with the strike plates.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section id=\"section-4\" class=\"wp-block-group msg-chapter is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Repair or replace<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A handle failure, a defective lock case, and a misaligned door all require different responses. Diagnosing prevents replacing a set that could still be repaired.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a change is required, a compatible reference limits modifications to the frame.
