Describe the complete process
A traveller may sometimes have to pass through a gate, a hall, then a residential door. Equipping only the final door does not create a complete autonomous route. Check common area constraints.
Choose appropriate access methods: code, app, badge, or key. Occasional visitors and cleaning staff may have different needs.
Prepare rights and responsibilities
Define who creates accesses, who modifies them, and who removes them. Temporary authorisations must match stay durations or service hours, with a procedure for extensions.
Limit administrator accounts and protect them. If the system maintains a log, specify its usage and access, taking into account the relevant personnel.
Check equipment, network, and integrations
The door must operate mechanically without excessive effort before motorisation. Check the cylinder, dimensions, handle, and mounting options. Electronic replacement solutions require their own compatibility study.
For each function, determine what is required: network, gateway, keyboard, app, or service. Integration with booking platforms and their costs may vary; confirm them for the proposed configuration.
Organise maintenance and continuity
Plan for battery monitoring, updates, and equipment replacement. A housing should not become inaccessible because no one knows where the backup is located.
