THE SMART LOCK GUIDE
COMMUNICATIONS
Encryption protects data exchanges.
Encryption of communications is a cornerstone of smart lock security. It transforms exchanged data so that intercepted data cannot be read directly by an unauthorized person.
Authentication ensures that a command originates from an authorised device. The exact mechanisms vary by manufacturer, connection type, and model; the name of an algorithm is insufficient to evaluate the entire system.
We follow the manufacturer’s guidance for setup and updates. No connected system offers 100% security; protecting the phone and administrator account also matters.
THE RIGHT ATTITUDES
Access that stays under control.
Protect your phone
Enable phone locking and the protections suggested by the app. Avoid sharing admin accounts.
Limit permissions
Assign each person only the doors and hours they need. Remove access that is no longer required.
Maintain the system
Install recommended updates, monitor power supply, and regularly check door operation.
Anticipate the loss of a support
Define in advance who can deactivate access and how to verify that the change has been applied to the affected doors.
NUKI · AIRKEY · EMZY
The specific precautions for each solution.
Nuki: protect administrator access, review users and keypad codes, and keep software up to date. If remote access is used, its network configuration is part of the control.
EVVA AirKey: A lost phone or badge must be deactivated in the administration. The block list must then be sent to the affected cylinders according to the EVVA procedure. An online change does not always mean immediate recognition at every door.
EVVA EMZY : security also depends on connected commands, contacts, power supply, and the cylinder. We inspect the entire assembly and the expected behaviour in case of power failure.
MECHANICAL PROTECTION
A good command does not replace a good door.
The cylinder, its external protection, the lock, fixings, and frame contribute to resistance against forced entry. Adding an app or motor does not automatically enhance each of these components.
If your lock is certified A2P, replacement components must remain compatible with its certified configuration. We verify the references before any adaptation.
Do not hesitate to ask for advice. We will work with you to find the best way to secure your access while providing the convenience of a smart lock. Learn more about cylinders ↗
YOUR QUESTIONS
Useful answers.
Does the log prove who entered?
It reports events recorded by the system according to its configuration. It does not guarantee identification of all individuals who passed through. Access rights to the log must be carefully selected.
Does a smart lock detect a break-in?
Not systematically. A door sensor or activity log is not an intrusion detector. Any potential alarm functions must be verified on the exact model and its installation.
What support is available in case of failure?
We define an appropriate backup access for the product, along with procedures for low battery or power cut. Maintaining an external mechanical key is not universal: it depends on the cylinder and mounting.
