Replacing a lock does not always meet the same need. You might want to prevent use of old keys, fix a malfunction, or improve the security of your entrance. These situations do not always require the same work.
The lock is the mechanism that controls the bolts; the cylinder is the component where you insert the key. If you only wish to replace keys and the locking function works correctly, replacing the cylinder may be sufficient.
If the handle drops, if the housing catches, or if a point no longer engages, we inspect the lock and its settings. After a break-in, the inspection also covers the mortice, the strike plates, and the fixings: a new lock does not compensate for a damaged frame.
COMPATIBILITÉ & QUALITÉ DE POSE
A suitable lock, a refined finish.
A wooden, metal, or PVC door requires different fixings and machining. We take note of the relevant dimensions, the door's opening direction, and the strike plate positions before selecting the equipment. The external appearance and door furniture are considered.
A surface-mounted lock is not automatically less secure than a mortice lock. The choice depends on the overall installation and, when required, its certification. Similarly, the key's shape is insufficient to judge the security of a cylinder.
To prepare your request, please indicate whether the door is open or jammed and attach a general view, an interior-side lock photo, and a photo of the frame. We can then specify the on-site checks to be carried out.

To facilitate the first replacement: a general view of the door, a photo of the internal mechanism, and photos of the markings on the edge. Avoid dismantling a lock that is still functioning.

I've just moved in: does everything need to be replaced?
Not necessarily. A new cylinder often allows key renewal without replacing a well-maintained lock. Compatibility with the mechanism and its protection still need to be verified.
Can we improve security without replacing the door?
Yes, depending on the condition of the door and frame: an appropriate lock, cylinder protection, security door handle, or reinforcement can be assessed. A diagnosis helps prioritise the improvements.
