A security door comprises an opening, a frame, hinges, a lock and its strike plates. Replacing one of these components without considering the others may cause closure issues or alter the intended characteristics of the entire unit.
A key that turns difficult does not necessarily mean the door needs replacing. The cylinder, central housing, handles, off-set points, and alignment are inspected. Repairing a mechanism or replacing the cylinder may be sufficient when the rest is in good condition.
After a forced entry attempt, we also check for deformations, fixings, and the condition of protective elements. Whether to restore or replace depends on the actual damage, availability of parts, and your desired level of protection.
COMPATIBILITÉ & QUALITÉ DE POSE
Certified lock and certified door: two key indicators.
A lock's A2P certification and a doorset's A2P BP classification pertain to different equipment. A certain number of points or a new lock does not automatically grant a classification to the entire door. We base our solution on the installation's reference specifications.
On a doorset by Picard just as on any other brand, the dimensions, the direction, the cylinder engagement and the external protection must be checked. When the original component is no longer available, possible adaptations are explained before proposing a broader replacement.

To facilitate the first replacement: a general view of the door, a photo of the internal mechanism, and photos of the markings on the edge. Avoid dismantling a lock that is still functioning.

Can I replace the cylinder with a European standard model?
Not without verification. Some locks require a specific engagement or a cylinder designed for their certified assembly.
Should the door be replaced after a lock failure?
No, not automatically. A diagnosis can determine whether a cylinder, lock case or lock replacement can restore the door to working order.
How to prepare for the intervention?
Take a view of the door, the internal mechanism and the reference label if accessible. Specify whether the door is jammed and whether you still have the keys.
