MULTISECU carried out the intervention in Saint-Eustache to replace the lock on a glass door opening onto the outside. The project involved finding a reliable closure and reinforcing this access with a multipoint lock.
Why the lock needed replacing
Our client contacted us to replace the lock on their glass door. After inspecting the door and its fittings, we selected a three-point solution suitable for this opening.
The solution: a GU 3-point lock
For this lock replacement at Saint-Eustache, we chose a GU brand lock. This three-point model offers excellent value for money and enhanced security. Here are its main features:
- A central locking point
- Two additional points at the top and bottom
- Automatic system: the top and bottom points lock when the door is shut
- Practical mechanism for releasing the points and fully opening the door
On this glass door, the multi-point locking system provides an appropriate solution for daily use. For another wooden or PVC door, the mechanism choice would also depend on the profile, dimensions, and anchoring points.
Why a 3-point lock?
Locking at multiple points distributes the closure across the door's height. The number of points is a key consideration, but it must be evaluated in conjunction with the cylinder, strike plates, the frame, and the condition of the door frame.
The installation of this GU lock has allowed replacing the old equipment and strengthening the door's closure for our client.
Beyond a simple lock change
Of course, the number of locking points is not the only factor to consider. Protection against prying and resistance to forced entry are equally crucial. If you'd like to learn more about these technical aspects of the locksmith trade, feel free to consult our blog.
