UNDERSTAND YOUR NEED

Three options, one explained.

Cylinder only

Replacing keys or substituting a faulty cylinder when the mechanism remains intact.

Box or lock

Assessing the availability of parts or full replacement based on observed wear.

Fittings and strike plate

Final finish, fixings, and bolt engagement in the frame are to be considered.

LE BON DIAGNOSTIC

Same brand, different architectures.

Bricard equips various types of doors with single-point and multipoint locks. Some are integrated into the door thickness; others remain visible on the interior side. The model shown here is a surface-mounted single-point lock: it does not represent a full-length covered multipoint lock or a multipoint closure.

We begin by identifying the fault. A damaged key, a worn cylinder, a handle that no longer returns, or a damaged lock case all require different interventions. Strike plates and door clearance are checked to ensure a new piece does not operate under stress.

The engraved reference on the lock, the lock case shape, and the installation dimensions allow for the correct components to be sourced. Visual similarity does not guarantee compatibility or equivalent security levels.

COMPATIBILITÉ & QUALITÉ DE POSE

Preserve what is already functioning.

Depending on the installed reference, it may be possible to retain the cylinder or certain fittings. This decision depends on their condition and compatibility with the new lock. When keys have been lost or circulated without control, their replacement remains a matter for discussion.

For a rim lock, we check the lock case dimensions, orientation and strike position. For a mortice lock, backset, centres and recess dimensions are essential. Any necessary adaptations are explained before fitting.

The Bricard mention does not mean that every Bricard lock has the same certification. If a certified performance is required, the exact model and assembly must be verified. The support's strength and the quality of installation are also considered.

BEFORE WORK

What the quotation must specify.

The lock reference, supply, installation, adjustments, and any necessary adaptations are detailed according to your situation. If the door must be opened initially, this operation is noted separately. Also see our pricing details.

To facilitate the first replacement: a general view of the door, a photo of the internal mechanism, and photos of the markings on the edge. Avoid dismantling a lock that is still functioning.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Before replacing your lock.

Does the photo correspond to all Bricard models?

No. It shows an identifiable example of a surface-mounted lock. Your model could be a mortice, multi-point, or another type: the solution is determined after identification.

Can an old Bricard lock be repaired?

Sometimes, depending on the fault and part availability. If the safe is worn or parts are no longer available, a replacement solution is offered.

Can we retain the door's appearance?

We look for an installation compatible with the existing setup. Dimensions, visible holes, and finishes are reviewed to anticipate any necessary rework.
