Héraclès HXRM Cylinder: Choosing a Suitable Replacement
The HXRM is a modular family of Héraclès cylinders. Its benefits are judged based on dimensions, installation, and key management, taking into account the lock in which it will be installed.

A high-performance cylinder remains a door component. Its length, external protection, and compatibility with the lock are just as important as its commercial name.
What modular construction offers
Modularity allows certain dimensions to be assembled from manufacturer-predefined elements. It can facilitate adaptation to the door's thickness and its door furniture, within the system's limits.
This does not mean a cylinder fits all locks. The profile, operation, mounting, and any required adaptors must be checked. Configurations designed for a full-length covered multipoint lock require particular verification.
Measure before choosing
For a European profile, the lengths on each side of the mounting centre are measured, including door furniture. The two sides may have different lengths. An excessively projecting cylinder on the outside requires either a mounting correction or appropriate protection.
The choice between two key entries and an internal button depends on usage, environment, and door type. The function allowing the cylinder to be operated when a key is present on the other side must be verified on the selected version, without assuming it is standard.
Assess the protection and replication of keys
The terms anti-drill, anti-pick or anti-burst describe technical features or objectives; they never imply that an installation is inviolable. Ask which characteristics are documented for the proposed model.
Also check the key replication conditions and the provided documentation. Keep the key card separate from the key set. The number of keys supplied, the possibility of duplicates, and their lead time are useful points to compare prior to installation.

The HXRM may be a relevant option when its features match the project. It is not a universal solution: an original cylinder, a different compatible model, or a reinstallation of the door furniture may be more suitable.
