Transit 2 Lock: Planning a Correct Installation

The Thirard Transit 2 can complement a closure in an appropriate configuration. Installation preparation requires the instruction manual for the exact reference: the door, the strike plate, and the fixings are just as important as the lock itself.

KEY POINTS

A hole diameter or dimension taken from another model does not constitute a fitting template. Always use the specifications and accessories from the selected reference.

Assess the need for an additional lock

A deadbolt adds a closure point and may allow independent operation. It is nevertheless essential to ensure it meets the requirement: a failing multipoint lock should not simply be compensated by adding a deadbolt at random.

Assess the door and frame strength, available thickness, and space for the strike plate. On a certified, collective, or specially regulated door, any modification must be verified prior to drilling.

Identify the version and prepare the mounting

The Transit 2 range includes variations. The cylinder, internal mechanism, and dimensions must match the door and intended use. Any certification, if applicable, must be verified for the full reference and configuration.

Before starting, check the kit contents, intended fixings, and template. Position the housing and strike plate on the closed door to verify alignment, then prepare the intervention on a stable and accessible door.

Align the lock case and strike correctly

The fitting, drilling and mounting follow the instructions. Tools and screws must be appropriate for the material; dimensions must not be improvised. The bolt must be securely held without deforming its housing.

The strike plate receives the bolt without forcing it. It must be secured to a support capable of absorbing the load, with any required adaptations. A robust bolt combined with an inadequately anchored strike plate loses a significant portion of its effectiveness.

Carry out the tests and retain the documents

First test the hinge mechanism for a door opening, then verify the alignment for a closed door. The key or button should operate smoothly without requiring a strong pull on the door. Also check the interior opening for those concerned.

Keep the instructions, part numbers and key-related documentation. If the door operates or if the operation becomes difficult, have the installation checked. MULTISECU can verify the suitability of an additional bolt and carry out a consistent installation matching your existing closure.
