Jammed tubular lock or missing key: what are your options?
A tubular lock is usually recognisable by its circular keyway and hollow-ended key. It is used on various types of equipment, with mechanisms and security levels that vary by model.

KEY POINTS
The tubular appearance is not sufficient to select a key or a lock cylinder replacement. The brand and mounting of the equipment must be identified.
Identify the lock and its use
The term describes a family of keyed systems, not a universal dimension. A piece of furniture, a safe, and technical equipment may use locks with similar appearances but different lengths or operating mechanisms.
Note the brand, model of the equipment, and visible references. A photo of the front and, when access is open, the back mounting helps in diagnosis.
In case of lost key
First search for a duplicate and the documents provided with the equipment. The manufacturer or a professional may sometimes identify a solution from a reference, with the necessary documentation.
Don't try to force a similar key. Tricks using a heated object, glue, or improvised tools may damage the lock and complicate a reinstallation.
If the key no longer works
Visually check that it's not deformed and that the entry isn't blocked. Don't force the rotation. The fault could stem from the cylinder, but also from the component behind the lock.
A professional can assess a suitable opening method and whether to retain or replace the mechanism. It's not necessary to assume that drilling is always required, nor to promise a damage-free opening in all cases.
Choose a compatible replacement
The diameter, length, mounting method, cam or drive mechanism, and rotation direction must match. The key extraction function and lock positions may also be relevant.
After installation, test several cycles before permanently closing the equipment. Keep the references and a duplicate in a separate location to facilitate future interventions.
