Fichet cylinders: understanding the F3D, 787Z and 787M families
Fichet names refer to different key and cylinder systems. Before replacing a cylinder, identify the lock already fitted: the newest or best-known model is not necessarily the right match.

KEY POINTS
These three families serve as identification markers, not a universal classification. Compatibility with your lock remains the primary criterion.
F3D: a specific key system
The F3D system is identified by its unique key shape. It belongs to a Fichet cylinder family designed for locks that are compatible. Identification should not rely solely on a key photograph: the lock model, dimensions, and associated features must be verified.
Replacing an old component with an F3D may require additional parts or manufacturer-specified adaptations. Therefore, it does not constitute a direct, automatic swap between all the cylinder models from the brand.
787Z: check the existing configuration
The 787Z family is present across various Fichet equipment. When a cylinder is worn or damaged, the replacement choice depends on the exact mounting and the lock's reference numbers.
Duplicate keys follow the procedure of the relevant system, including the necessary documentation and the security card when required. Retain the documents provided during installation: they simplify identification and part ordering.
787M: identify the lock generation
The 787M is a distinct family with a pump effect. It must not be confused with the 787Z. For an old installation, the availability of parts and replacement solutions must be verified case by case.
A change may affect only the cylinder or require a broader intervention. The diagnosis must explain the reason for this choice, particularly when an old part is no longer available in the requested configuration.
Useful information before ordering
Take a photo of the key, the key insertion, and the lock, along with any visible references. Avoid publicly sharing a key number or a security card. Specify whether the door is open and whether the mechanism remains functional.
On a lock certified A2P, component compatibility contributes to maintaining the certified configuration. MULTISECU can identify the existing materials and distinguish what must be replaced from what can be retained.
