Locking & protection
The security deadlock
A security lock adds a barrier to a door or equips an appropriate access point. Its effectiveness depends on its actual strength, installation quality, and the sturdiness of the frame receiving it.

THE KEY POINT TO REMEMBER
The term 'security' in a commercial name does not constitute certification on its own.
What a lock can offer
It creates an additional point of closure when the door and frame allow for correct installation. It can address a need for reinforcement or for securing a secondary access point.
However, a robust bolt fixed on a degraded support is insufficient. The strike plate, screws, potential reinforcements, and cylinder zone must all be assessed together.
The various options
The key and push-button lock is easily operated from the interior. A double cylinder requires a key from each side. A code lock uses a combination, either mechanical or electronic, depending on the model.
Small tacks and tubular closures can prevent opening, but should not automatically be considered equivalent to security locks for entry.
How to choose a consistent solution
Specify the usage, users, door thickness, and external exposure. Check the cylinder length, mounting possibilities, and operating clearance.
Ease of egress must remain appropriate to the location. Reinforcement can also be achieved through a multipoint lock, a protective door furniture, or frame work rather than by adding multiple independent locks.
Installation, maintenance and alternatives
A properly aligned installation allows the bolt to engage smoothly without forcing. Fasteners and operation must be checked if the door distorts or if the handle becomes difficult to operate.
Alarm and video surveillance perform detection or monitoring functions; they do not replace mechanical resistance. The choice is made according to site needs and may combine several complementary methods, without unnecessarily multiplying equipment.
