Vachette Locks: Understanding the Range Before You Choose
Vachette offers cylinders, locks, and closure accessories suited to different applications. To select the right one, start with your door and the required function, then identify a specific model.

The brand alone does not define the level of protection. The mechanism, the cylinder, the strike plates and their installation form a complete system.
One brand, several product families
A cylinder recognizes the key and transmits the rotation; the lock case controls the bolts. The handle and strike plates complete the closure. Depending on the fault, it may be possible to replace just one component without changing the rest.
The installation method is another reference point: a mortised lock is integrated into the door's thickness; a surface-mounted lock remains visible on its interior face. The number of locking points is a distinct feature.
Two examples to help identify your system
The 5000 Trilock family refers to multipoint mortised locks. The 8800 is a family of surface-mounted multipoint locks. These two designs therefore cannot be simply replaced for one another simply because they share the same brand.

Certification and keys: verify the configuration
An A2P certification applies to a specific product and configuration. It does not automatically apply to all locks of a brand. A cylinder change may alter the intended configuration: authorised associations must be verified.
For keys, request reproduction conditions, documents to retain, and part availability. A security card does not mean all protections or patent durations are identical.
Prepare a Vachette replacement
Take a photograph of the lock, its face, and any readable markings. Note the opening direction and describe the operation: key resistance, handle with no effect, door rubbing, or blocked bolts. Do not order a housing based solely on its facade resemblance.
