Vachette 3-Point Locks: Which One Suits Your Door?
There is no Vachette 3-point lock that is the best for all types of doors. The right choice depends on the existing installation, the condition of the support, usage, and the level of security required.

KEY POINTS
Begin with the door, then compare compatible references. The number of points does not replace the quality of the anchors or the review of the certification.
Start from the existing installation
Is your mechanism set into the door leaf or mounted as a surface-mounted unit? Where is the cylinder and handle located? How do the top and bottom pins connect to their strike plates? These observations determine the lock families that can be considered.
A close match to the existing model may limit adaptations, but dimensions and fittings must be checked. A visually similar lock may have different bolt axes, spacing, or bolt travel.
Assess the actual security level
A multi-point locking system distributes anchor points, but it works in conjunction with the door and its frame. If the wood is degraded or if the strike plates are poorly secured, adding more points does not resolve the overall weakness.
When looking for a certified lock, verify the reference, the stated level, and associated components. Some 5000 variants are certified A2P; this does not allow the same certification to be applied to the entire Vachette range.
Consider ease of use and key security
A door used multiple times daily should close with no excessive effort. The presence of a pull, a brace, a specific locking mechanism, or an exit device is selected based on occupants and the door's purpose.
Consider the number of keys, future dual requirements, and access management in case of loss. A controlled reproduction cylinder may meet certain needs; a key access system or motorisation requires a separate study from the simple installation of a mechanical lock.
Compare quotations on a like-for-like basis
The quotation must specify the model, cylinder, strike plates, accessories, and planned adaptations. Ask whether the old cuts will be retained and which finishes will remain visible after the work.
For a deeper understanding, the Vachette 5000 versus 8800 comparison explains the differences in installation. MULTISECU can then inspect your installation in Annecy and propose a solution aligned with your budget, rather than a generic classification unrelated to your door.
